A Statement from Exponent Edge Regarding Our Folding Bench Technology

Charlotte, NC
At Exponent Edge, we believe clarity matters — particularly when it comes to product innovation and authorship.
We are the original creators of the folding bench technology introduced as part of our Infinity Bench. This design was publicly unveiled and demonstrated at Home Gym Con 2024, supported by timestamped video footage and public release materials that establish its origin and development.
In early 2025, we entered into a licensing agreement to allow the use of this folding technology in a specific bench application, the ABX bench. That agreement is no longer representative of an active partnership.
At the time this technology was developed, Exponent Edge was a young company — approximately six months old — working on a novel and unique solution to a real problem. While we did take action to protect the intellectual property, the realities of developing and enforcing IP around a new mechanical concept proved more complex once the design gained broader visibility.
This product was not created to follow trends. It was created out of necessity.
I have trained at home for over 25 years — long before home gyms were mainstream or commercially polished. The folding bench concept was born from my own training needs, space constraints, and frustration with existing solutions. That same approach has guided many of our products: equipment designed first for personal use, refined through real training, and only then brought to market.
As the category continues to evolve, similar designs have begun to appear. That development reinforces the underlying value of the original idea and highlights the importance of securing enforceable intellectual property early in the lifecycle of innovation.
Moving forward, all Exponent Edge designs, mechanisms, and product innovations are being formally filed, reviewed, and managed by our patent attorney to protect our intellectual property and future developments. We will continue investing heavily in original engineering, documentation, and legal safeguards to ensure our work is properly protected.
This statement also serves as notice that Exponent Edge will actively defend its intellectual property and creative output against unauthorized use or imitation.
Exponent Edge is sharing this update for transparency only. Our focus remains on building original, purpose-built equipment grounded in experience, function, and long-term thinking.
We will continue to protect our work diligently, and design equipment the same way this one was created: out of real need, real training, and real experience.
Exponent Edge is sharing this update to provide transparency, not commentary. We are focused on continuing to design original, purpose-built equipment rooted in experience, function, and long-term thinking.
We will continue building — thoughtfully, deliberately, and with the same hands-on approach that led to this design in the first place.
