What makes the Edge Infinity Bench different from a traditional adjustable bench?
Most adjustable benches provide flat and incline positions. The Edge Infinity Bench adds a third configuration: Half Bench Mode.
Its upper support pad folds down and locks into position, opening the area around your head and shoulders for unrestricted overhead movements. The same configuration can provide chest, back, arm, or head support for exercises that are difficult to perform comfortably on a conventional bench.
It is the versatility of three benches built into one intelligently designed footprint.
Is Exponent Edge the original inventor of the Flat-Incline-Half Bench?
Yes. Exponent Edge created and introduced the original Edge Infinity Bench as the first Flat-Incline-Half Bench of its kind.
The design was developed to solve a limitation founder Jay Benoit experienced with traditional adjustable benches: the back pad interfered with overhead movements and could not provide the targeted support needed for many chest-supported, back-supported, and arm exercises.
Since introducing the original Infinity Bench at HomeGymCon in 2024, similar folding concepts have entered the market. The Edge Infinity Bench remains the original design that established the Flat-Incline-Half Bench category.
What is Half Bench Mode?
Half Bench Mode is created by folding down the upper support pad, leaving the main back pad available for support without placing padding behind your head and shoulders.
This gives you greater freedom during overhead exercises while also creating a compact support surface for chest-supported, back-supported, arm-supported, and head-supported movements.
Instead of forcing your body to work around the bench, Half Bench Mode allows the bench to work around the movement.
Why is Half Bench Mode better for overhead exercises?
On a traditional incline bench, the back pad frequently extends behind the lifter’s head. This can interfere with natural head positioning and limit freedom of movement during overhead exercises.
Half Bench Mode removes that obstruction while continuing to support your upper back. It is especially useful for:
- Seated overhead presses
- Dumbbell shoulder presses
- Overhead triceps extensions
- Arnold presses
- Single-arm overhead movements
- Other exercises requiring unrestricted head and shoulder movement
Can the Infinity Bench be used for chest-supported and back-supported exercises?
Yes. The folding upper pad locks securely into position to provide targeted support for exercises that normally require a separate piece of equipment or an improvised bench setup.
This configuration can support movements such as:
- Chest-supported dumbbell rows
- Rear-delt raises
- Chest-supported lateral raises
- Triceps kickbacks
- Supported dumbbell flyes
- Back-supported curls
- Head-supported rows
- Supported shoulder exercises
The result is greater stability, less momentum, and more attention directed toward the muscles you are training.
Does the folding section remain secure under load?
Yes. The upper support section is engineered to lock into position for supported exercises. The Infinity Bench is rated for at least 500 pounds during chest- and back-supported exercises.
As with any adjustable equipment, confirm that the support pad and adjustment mechanisms are completely secured before applying weight.
How much weight can the Infinity Bench support?
The Edge Infinity Bench has an approximate 1,000-pound capacity when used as a flat or incline bench. Chest- and back-supported exercise configurations are rated for at least 500 pounds.
This is a strength-training bench built for serious lifting—not merely a lightweight utility bench with an extra hinge.
Is the Infinity Bench stable enough for heavy bench pressing?
Yes. The Infinity Bench uses heavy steel construction, an 80-pound bench weight, and a wide 24-inch rear base to deliver strong side-to-side stability under load.
Its laser-etched steel ladder mechanism provides solid back-pad positioning, while the grip vinyl helps keep the lifter planted during demanding presses. The bench is designed to remain steady when the weight and intensity increase.
What adjustment angles are available?
The back pad offers eight positions:
- 0 degrees
- 13 degrees
- 26 degrees
- 39 degrees
- 52 degrees
- 65 degrees
- 78 degrees
- 90 degrees
The adjustable seat gives you additional positioning options to help maintain a secure setup at different incline angles. The folding support pad can be used in the top four back-pad settings.
Does the bench have a true 90-degree upright position?
Yes. The Infinity Bench adjusts through multiple incline positions and reaches a full 90-degree upright setting.
Combined with Half Bench Mode, this gives you several ways to configure the bench for shoulder presses, arm training, supported movements, and other upright exercises.
Will I slide on the bench during heavy presses?
The Infinity Bench uses durable grip vinyl designed to reduce unwanted movement and help keep your body planted during heavy pressing.
The more securely you can maintain your position, the more effectively you can transfer force into the lift instead of wasting energy sliding across the pad.
Is the Infinity Bench comfortable for taller lifters?
The bench measures 50 inches long and includes three separate support surfaces:
- Seat pad: 14 × 14 inches at its widest point
- Back pad: 18.5 × 11 inches
- Upper support pad: 15 × 11 inches at its widest point
Because torso proportions vary, very tall lifters should compare these measurements with their current bench. The folding upper pad also gives taller users more freedom around the head and shoulders during overhead work.
How tall is the bench in its flat position?
The Infinity Bench is 17 inches high when flat. This provides a familiar pressing height while keeping your feet in a strong position for stability and leg drive.
Is the Infinity Bench useful beyond bench pressing?
Absolutely. It can be used for pressing, rowing, shoulder training, arm training, lower-body exercises, and supported isolation movements.
Popular uses include:
- Flat and incline bench presses
- Chest-supported dumbbell rows
- Seated overhead presses
- Rear-delt raises
- Dumbbell curls
- Triceps extensions and kickbacks
- Bulgarian split squats
- Step-ups
- Hip thrusts
- Supported mobility and rehabilitation-style movements
This is why the Infinity Bench can replace multiple single-purpose stations in a home or garage gym.
Is the Edge Infinity Bench a good choice for a home gym?
Yes. Home-gym equipment needs to earn the space it occupies. The Infinity Bench combines flat, incline, upright, Half Bench, and targeted-support configurations within one 50-inch-long bench.
It also stores vertically when not in use. Instead of filling your gym with a bench and several improvised support stations, you get one stable platform that can serve significantly more of your training.
Can the Infinity Bench be stored vertically?
Yes. The Infinity Bench can be placed upright for more compact storage when it is not being used.
Its horizontal front handle and integrated wheels make it easier to move around your gym. Always place it on a flat, stable surface when storing it vertically and keep it away from areas where it could be bumped.
How much does the Infinity Bench weigh?
The bench weighs approximately 80 pounds. That weight contributes to its stability during demanding training while the handle and wheels make it manageable to reposition.
It is substantial enough to feel planted without becoming permanent gym furniture.
How do I adjust the bench safely?
Use the extended ladder handles as your dedicated hand-placement points when raising, lowering, or guiding the back pad.
Do not place your fingers inside the ladder mechanism while making adjustments. The knobs were intentionally extended to provide a secure grip while helping keep your hands clear of moving components. Always confirm that each adjustment is fully seated before beginning an exercise.

The Edge Adjustable Bench replaces the pile of mediocre benches crowding your gym. Flat. Incline. Half bench. One footprint. Built with heavy steel and designed for lifters who actually load plates, not influencers posing with dumbbells.

Safe Bench Adjustment
The Infinity Bench was intentionally engineered with extended ladder knobs that provide a dedicated hand placement area during bench adjustments. When changing incline positions, always use the protruding ladder knobs to raise, lower, and guide the back pad into position.
